IQRF Alliance Meeting in Microsoft HQ

There was an informal dinner in the hotel for those who arrived the day before. It was an excellent opportunity for representatives of the companies to get to know with other guests and discuss their businesses, projects and products. The keyword and main connection between those people was the IQRF technology which they use in their solutions.
Wednesday
The first day of the IQRF Alliance Meeting was kicked off by Vladimír Šulc, CEO of Microrisc and the author of the IQRF wireless technology, with his presentation focused on visions and strategy regarding the IQRF technology. Mr. Šulc revealed information about new OS 4.0 with many new security features. Wireless networks are exposed to potential hacker attacks, so MICRORISC decided to protect the IQRF technology with AES-128 encryption, there is protection against spurious packets, access encryption, network encryption and also user encryption.
Vladimír Šulc also introduced a new concept in structure of the company. As the MICRORISC wants to ensure very fast pace of the IQRF development, there will be the new company called IQRF Tech formed. This new company will include all technological background regarding the IQRF technology, global patents development and sales.
The second presentation by Simon Chudoba brought information about visions and strategy of the IQRF Alliance. The IQRF Alliance is growing very fast and to ensure significant promotion of products and members' solutions on a very competitive IoT market, there is huge change coming. The new IQRF Alliance will have completely new structure made of different committees and board of directors with bigger focus on opportunity for members to control the whole Alliance.
Hynek Syrovátka, CTO of MICRORISC, introduced the concept of the IQRF standardization. He emphasized the need of having standardized products which can be plugged into a network and be immediately ready to use.
The 11th January was the first day when the new committees started to operate. There are three types of committees – strategy, technology and marketing committee. Those committees had individual meetings where they created plans for the future behaviour of the IQRF Alliance. Outcomes made by committees were presented to all participants later that day.
The first meeting day was ended with a networking dinner where all participants could discuss their products and solutions and get more detailed information about presentations from presenters.
Thursday
The second day of the event was focused on presentations of the IQRF Alliance members and companies cooperating with the IQRF Alliance.
The main thing introduced on Thursday was a cooperation between Microsoft, AAEON and MICRORISC on a IoT Development kit. Customer will get a complete package with AAEON's UP Board, Microsoft Azure voucher and four MICRORISC's data transceivers. The package is great to build your first IoT network and prepare powerful solutions with low budget thanks to very low price of 349 EUR.
Jan Pospíšil from Microsoft learned audience advanced features of the Microsoft Azure for IoT Development kit. The biggest benefit of this cloud solution is in its simplicity and easy implementation into existing solutions.
Fabrizio Del Maffeo, Managing Director for Europe in AAEON, introduced the improved generation of the UP Board called UP Squared. UP Squared is a new ultra-compact product with high performance build on a latest generation of Intel processors.
Petr Doutnáč from ZyXEL had a presentation called ZyXEL KIS about how is ZyXEL focusing on keeping things simple yet with high performance. If there should be an ultimate high-end device, it would be very expensive or it becomes a device with limited number of applications. ZyXEL decided to develop more products so customers can easily choose what device is more suitable for them.
Mr. József Kopják, CEO of IQ Home, presented detailed information about the IQ Home gateways, sensors and actuators. On the top of that, Mr. Kopják added live demonstration of their new application LinkIt! for an advanced managing of a wireless network based on the IQRF technology and a funny demonstration of realtime data collection by a sensor attached to a remotely controlled helicopter.
Pavol Korček from Rehivetech presented a management system for IQRF gateways developed to improve administration possibilities for gateways placed in the IQRF mesh networks.
The IQRF Alliance Meeting was attended also by an important guest from Bosch Software Innovations – Kai Hackbarth, who explained how the OSGi Alliance works, what are OSGi standars-based gateways and what are the possibilities of cooperation between their products and the IQRF technology.
Next presentation was focused on a healthy environment at schools. This project in run by O2 IT Services, Protronix, MICRORISC, Camea and the IQRF Alliance and is installed at Smíchovská Technical High School. The monitoring results during few months will be shared with public and later there will be prepared solutions solving the measured issues.
Michal Růžička from Aledo explained their own indoor lighting systems with security monitoring. The participants have seen a live demonstration how the IQRF wireless technology can saves human lives.
Jan Řehák introduced his very young company called Netio which is developing networked power sockets based on the IQRF technology.
Ivona Spurná, IQRF Smart School manager, summarized the results of the cooperations between the IQRF Alliance and technical universities and high schools and described upcoming projects.
The last presentation of the day and the whole IQRF Alliance Meeting was done by Tomáš Mejzlík from Southmoravian Innovation Center and the topic was FabLab: Open workshop in digital era.
There was also announced the IQRF Summit 2017, huge conference for developers and technically focused companies, system integrators, manufacturers and other institutions. This will be one of the largest events in the field of Internet of Things in Central Europe, held in Clarion Congress Hotel Prague, from 6th to 8th June 2017.
